After years of building a reputation in the competitive world of freestyle BMX, Dave Mirra drove in the Rally America National Championship as a rookie through 2008. Although he didn’t compete in every rally event, he accumulated enough points to outscore other rookies and won the Rookie of the Year title.

Starting in six of the season’s rallies, Mirra’s highest finish was 7th in the New England Forest Rally. He scored a total of 15 points by the end of the season.

Invited to appear in X Games 14 Rally, Mirra tied teammate Ken Block for the bronze medal.

SUBARU ANNOUNCES 2009 RALLY CONTINGENCY PROGRAMS, SUPPORT FOR SUPER PRODUCTION CLASS

arrows SUBARU ANNOUNCES 2009 RALLY CONTINGENCY PROGRAMS, SUPPORT FOR SUPER PRODUCTION CLASS

For 2009, Subaru of America, Inc. continues its contingency program within the Rally America National Championship. As it has since 2004, Subaru will offer the largest and deepest prize payouts in the series with funding applied to the newly formed Super Production (SP) class. Intended to slot between the existing top-tier Open class and Production GT (PGT) class, SP class cars are allowed hydraulic handbrakes, upgraded brakes, and a larger turbo inlet restrictor, among other items. In addition, Subaru offers a $200 start fund to any eligible Subaru entrant of a Rally America regional rally held concurrent with a national event.

“By creating the SP class, Rally America has significantly opened up both cars and parts applications, allowing greater access into rallying,“ said James Han, motorsports marketing manager for Subaru of America, Inc. “Supporting this new class through our Subaru contingency program should have a further positive effect towards attracting more entrants.”

The 2009 Rally Support Program is administered and managed by Vermont SportsCar. For more information, go to www.subaru.com/rally.
