arrows TURBOCHARGED 2.5-LITER SUBARU BOXER ENGINE WINS AT THE INTERNATIONAL ENGINE OF THE YEAR AWARDS 2008

The turbo Boxer engine available in Subaru Impreza®, Outback®, Legacy®, and Forester® models was voted this year’s winner of the International Engine of the Year Awards 2008 in the 2.0–liter to 2.5–liter engine class. The ceremony took place at the Engine Expo in Stuttgart, Germany, on May 7. The award was determined by a panel of 65 journalists from 32 countries who served as judges.

PETTER SOLBERG THE FIRST GLOBAL AMBASSADOR FOR GENERATIONS FOR PEACEThe Generations for Peace program was initiated by His Royal Highness Prince Feisal Al Hussein of Jordan to inspire greater tolerance and understanding around the world. The program brings together youth leaders from divided communities and trains them to help unite children through sport. They return to their communities to implement what they’ve learned.

Before the start of the inaugural Jordan Rally WRC in April 2008, Petter Solberg of the Subaru World Rally Team was announced as the first Global Ambassador for Generations for Peace.

arrows 48 HOURS OF TRI–STATE

The 7th annual 48 Hours of Tri–State charity drive organized by members of the North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club (NASIOC) took place February 1–3, 2008. Covering more than a thousand miles, the drive’s stops included Cooperstown and Lake George, New York, and the Pine Barrens and Subaru of America Headquarters in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Subaru of America generously matched the participants’ donations for a total of $13,885 raised for the American Cancer Society® to fund cancer research.
